  • If I switch to The Mack Services Group for my natural gas, will new pipelines be required to my home or business?
    • No. We are only responsible for purchasing and scheduling the delivery of natural gas over PECO Energy’s current distribution system. PECO Energy will continue to deliver natural gas to your home or business using their existing distribution system.
  • If I switch to The Mack Services Group, will I need a new meter?
    • No. The Mack Services Group will be able to use your existing meter to provide you with service.
  • Who will read my natural gas meter?
    • PECO Energy will continue to read your meter on the same schedule you are currently on.
  • Who do I call if I have a problem with my gas service or I smell gas?
    • PECO Energy. Even if you choose The Mack Services Group for your natural gas, you will still call PECO Energy for an emergency at 1-800-841-4141.
  • If I choose The Mack Services Group for my natural gas, will I receive a lower priority from PECO Energy if our power goes out or there is a problem with our natural gas service?
    • No. PECO Energy will respond in the same manner as in the past. They are required by law to maintain the same standards of reliability that were in place before deregulation. Besides, when PECO restores power or gas service to a neighborhood, all homes are restored at the same time, not each individual home in a particular area.
  • Is there any cost to sign up or to cancel my service with The Mack Services Group?
    • There are no sign up or cancellation fees for residential accounts. Commercial accounts may contain a cancellation fee. These fees will be detailed in the terms and conditions.
  • Will I get 2 bills each month?
    • No. We will include our charges on PECO’s bill each month. And you can still pay your PECO bill exactly the same way you pay today, even if you have automatic billing from your checking account.
  • Doesn’t PECO fix their rates each quarter?
    • PECO sets an estimated rate for each quarter. If market prices end up being higher than the estimate, PECO charges the shortfall in future bills. If market prices are less than the estimated price PECO has set the over collected amount will be refunded in future bills. In essence, the PECO rate is a variable rate for the year.
  • What happens after I choose the Mack Services for my natural gas service?
    • We send your enrollment request to PECO. PECO will send you a letter notifying you of your selection of the Mack Services Group as well as the estimated start date of your service. You also have 11 days from the receipt of the PECO letter to rescind your selection of supplier.
  • Does my service start immediately after I select the Mack Services Group?
    • No. PECO must receive your enrollment request at least 11 days prior to your next meter read date. If the enrollment request is sent less than 11 days prior to meter read date service will start the following month. Depending on timing of the enrollment request, it could take 40 days before service begins after selection.
